I love lyrics. I love sounds and beeps and all that (a lot), but when you have a song that has lyrics that resonate with you, sometimes surprisingly so, there's really something special about that.
I've revisited the Dark Was The Night soundtrack recently, and have re-fallen in love with Tightrope by Yeasayer. I like the album version better, but this stripped down version showcases the lyrics better. Also, there's nothing wrong with a banjo and a melodica. (there's a lot of blah blah blah so you can skip through that if you want).
Also, the National. Always the National. His voice. The lyrics.
Sometimes when I watch videos like these and laugh till I cry, I kind of feel like an asshole. Then I realize they're really funny and they make me happy and I don't feel so bad.
I set up my sun porch last night, and it's great. I needed to make myself some space; a space away from the rest of my apartment if that makes sense. It was so nice to hang out and watch the rain.
"Every day and every night I want to see you and be with you. Yet I have no feeling of selfish ownership or jealousy."
"Let's go for a long ride Sunday; let's go to the mountains weekends; let's read books in front of fires; most of all, let's really grow together and find the happiness we know is ours."
Richard Nixon was a romantic. Who knew. I love love letters.
I've hated this week. Well, not the things I've shared, but overall, this week can suck it. I don't know if it's solar flares or what, but I will welcome Monday with open arms (what?!?!).
My sister from another mister sent this to me, and it's really wonderful. We are all the universe (and I sound like a hippy).
Cabins and friends are the best things ever. I feel really fortunate to live in a place where I can be out of the city and surrounded by trees and water (frozen or not) within a few hours.
Another best thing: wood etchings of Mitch Hedberg stand-up quotes. He was (and still is) one of my top five comedians.
