Clementine was the best thing I saw Tuesday

Wednesday
Today there is no picture for the best thing I saw. It wasn't even the best thing I saw, rather the best thing I experienced. He was a man with smooth dark skin, white, wiry hair, and dark, yet slightly milky eyes. They were not dull, no, they were crisp, but there was age in them. Experience of things witnessed, both good and terrible. I could not have taken a picture of him for this. I wouldn't have known how to ask. This man made my day. Maybe even my week, for every time I think of our meeting, I smile. I know I'll always remember him in some fashion, even if the memory fades, he will reside somewhere. Such humility and grace. Such poise and such desire to further himself. I can only imagine what he has been through. You can't say "things were very bad, we had civil war for 16 years," and expect it to be anything close to the bad we know. "Thank you you much for your time and caring in meeting me. Miss, it was so nice to meet you."
Likewise.

friday, saturday, sunday, monday

I will get on the whole posting every day thing. That's the point, right? This is called the best thing I saw today, not the best thing I saw four days ago. Also, pictures. I know, I know, pictures.
Until then.

Friday:
The best thing I saw Friday was glorious take out sushi. It was so pretty and delicious, and I had a really good date with myself.

Saturday:
I saw a few best things. Saturday I went to the African Youth Summit, so I saw a whole bunch of newcomers just hanging out, being kids, and having fun. I got to meet a bunch of them, and really, that is the best part of my job.
Saturday night the best thing I saw was my friends, a whole lot of them. Around a table and around and a bonfire. It was a good night.

Sunday:
The best thing I saw Sunday was my mom and grandma. They take the cake.

Monday:
At the Adult Education building on Vaughn, the sign says "Be Well, Be Kind" and I really love that phrase. It sounds so gentle and nice, and really, those are two things to strive for.

I seen it. That is to say, I saw it

This blog is an experiment born from the things I see. It is a testament to their existence; that they're not just in my head, and a way for me to share things I see or find that I think are neat. For example, on Wednesday I saw a man dressed as a cowboy. Now, he was not an "ironic" cowboy, nor was he wearing a costume. No, this gentlemen saw fit to dress like a cowboy cause he wanted to, and it was the best thing I saw that day. I wish I had a picture. You would have liked him. I'm sure of it.
